António Vieira

António A. C. Vieira is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Systems, University of Minho, Portugal. He holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Engineering Systems, from the University of Minho, since 2019. He is a Researcher of the ALGORITMI Center of the University of Minho.
His main research interests consist of Business Intelligence and Analytics, with focus on (Big) Data Warehousing and Analytical techniques and tools. As such, his main research activities have consisted of data integration approaches, data visualization, as well as business process improvement using simulation approaches. He is also interested in exploring topics related to Reinforcement Learning, Agent-Based Simulation, Digital Twins, and Process Mining.
He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Simulation Modelling, Applied Sciences (Switzerland), PLOS ONE, and the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems.
He won 3 awards in international conferences, and published more than 30 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
His past working experiences include the following:
Between 2021 and 2023, he was Assistant Professor at the Department of Management of the University of Évora (UÉ), and, afterwards, at the Department of Engineering of UTAD (Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro), wherein he assumed management roles of Deputy Director of the Degrees in Management (from the UÉ) and in Industrial Engineering and Management (from UTAD).
Between 2021 and 2023 he was Senior Researcher of the Centro de Estudos e Formação Avançada em Gestão e Economia Research Center (CEFAGE) of the University of Évora, and Deputy Director of CEFAGE.
During 2020, he was Senior Developer and Team Leader of the Data Engineering Group of CCG (Centro de Computação Gráfica), wherein he worked on the development and team leadership on the (Big) Data Warehousing components of Research and Development Projects.
